Portraits of Hope: Meet the 2026 Honorees of Seattle’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Earlier this year, Seattle’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team reached out for some help, and of course we said yes without thinking twice!
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, thousands of people will gather at Pier 62 on Seattle's waterfront for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Seattle and annual event hosted by The American Cancer Society. It’s an incredible community of survivors and the people who love them.
The 2026 Portraits of Hope
Each year, the event honors a group of people called the Portraits of Hope. Every one of them has lived through breast cancer, either as a patient or along side of someone who was. This year, we were honored to be asked to take their portraits.
We're not going to tell their stories for them. They've shared their own words on the Portraits of Hope page, and that's where you should read them. What we'll say is this: getting to spend that time with them was the best part of our year. Go meet them. It won't take long, and you won't forget them.
More Than a Walk
The Making Strides event is more than “a walk” and it’s an incredible sight to take in. An entire community of people - thousands - gathered to show their support and respect.
The money raised through Making Strides does real, specific work. It funds research that changes what a diagnosis will mean a decade from now. It supports patient programs such as rides to treatment, a place to stay, a voice on the other end of the line at two in the morning. It backs advocacy that reaches well beyond any single city. Behind the American Cancer Society's mission is a promise I keep returning to: that no one should have to face cancer alone.
